In case you didn’t know, North Carolina’s economy is booming! Home to 12 Fortune 500 companies including Bank of America, Duke Energy, Lowe’s, North Carolina has one of the lowest unemployment rates driven by its vast diversification and business-friendly climate.

North Carolina has a thriving tech industry with the Research Triangle Park, also known as “RTP” in the “Triangle,” which is the nickname for the region of Raleigh, North Carolina. In fact, Apple recently announced that they would be building their East Coast hub in the RTP adding 3,000 new jobs in “machine learning, artificial intelligence, software engineering, and other cutting-edge fields.”

You can also check out the North Carolina Museum of Art which features over 40 galleries and the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences which is the largest of its kind in the Southeastern U.S. The North Carolina museum system is affiliated with the Smithsonian Institution, and is often referred to as the Smithsonian of the South. Established in 1936 as North Carolina’s first art museum, The Mint Museum in Charlotte is a leading, innovative cultural institution and museum of international art and design. From mountain biking and zip lining to fishing or enjoying hiking trails and camping under the stars, the unique geographic diversity means that you can find something you love. Residents can enjoy the N.C Fly Fishing Trail in Jackson County, scale a mountain at Hanging Rock State Park, or catch the waves at sandy beaches like Wrightsville Beach. One of the best things about living in North Carolina is that everything is a relatively short drive away. Depending on where you live, most destinations across the state are only a 2–3-hour drive which means plenty of options for weekend adventures.
