If you're a golfer, you're in luck! Suffolk boasts four world-class golf courses. Sleepy Hole Golf Course has hosted 8 LPGA Tour events and served as a venue for many prestigious amateur tournaments. Cedar Point Country Club and Riverfront Golf Club at Harbour View are private and semi-private golf clubs. The Cedar Point Country Club features a 7,100-yard, 18-hole course designed by Tom Clark. Riverfront Golf Club at Harbour View's 18-hole course was designed by golf course architect Tom Doak and is located on the banks of the Nansemond River near the mouth of the James River. Finally, the Suffolk Golf Course is an 18-hole public golf course near Lake Kirby and offers a challenging but fun experience.

Home to the Great Dismal Swamp National Wildlife Refuge, Suffolk provides nature lovers and ecotourists with an amazing opportunity to explore one of the most important wildlife habitats in the mid-Atlantic region. At nearly 113,000 acres, the refuge is the largest intact remnant of a vast swamp that once covered more than one million acres. The Great Dismal Swamp is home to 47 species of mammals, 200 birds, 96 species of butterflies, and much more. The refuge also offers 40 miles of trails with something for every age and ability. Peanuts, Peanuts, and More Peanuts

In 1913, an Italian immigrant named Amedeo Obici arrived in Suffolk, Virginia and established the first mass-processing plant for Planters Nut and Chocolate Company. Since that time, Suffolk has become synonymous with peanuts. Today, visitors and residents flock to the Planters Peanut Center, where they can select from a huge selection of peanut products. A dozen independent peanut producers are also nearby, including Hubs Virginia Peanuts, Hubbard Peanut Company and Birdsong Peanuts.
