How We Live Our Engaged Community Partner Brand Promise

SHARE

Harry H. Hunt, our Founder and Chairman, has always emphasized the importance of giving back to the local communities that we serve. When Mr. Hunt founded HHHunt in 1966, he became involved in numerous civic, business and charitable organizations including the United Way of the New River Valley, the local chamber of commerce, Roanoke Valley Apartment Council and others. Today, we continue to honor that tradition of giving back to our local communities. That is why one of HHHunt’s Brand Promises is to be an Engaged Community Partner. Here are just some of the ways we live our Engaged Community Partner brand promise.

Alleviating Hunger for Those in Need

According to Feeding America, nearly 4 million people in Maryland, Virginia, North Carolina, and South Carolina struggled to have enough to eat last year – many of them children. Each year, HHHunt holds an annual food drive around the holidays to help end hunger in our communities. The 7th Annual Food Drive took place in November and December 2021. We collected a total of 17,104 non-perishable food items which were donated to a variety of food banks including Feed More, Blessed Table Pantry, Chesterfield County Food Bank, Feed NC, Fredericksburg Regional Food Bank, HELP of Beaufort, Lowcountry Food Bank and others. HHHunt also provided a $1.00 matching donation for every food item collected which resulted in a monetary donation of $17,104.

In addition to our Food Drive, HHHunt Homes team members participated in the Meals on Wheels “March for Meals” campaign. The March for Meals campaign provides healthy and nutritious meals to seniors 60 years and older. We purchased food, filled 145 bags, and delivered them to the Meals on Wheels office. Each bag of food was delivered to Raleigh/Wake County-area seniors who could not access a grocery store.

Providing Safe Housing Opportunities for Those in Need

HHHunt Corporation believes that everyone should have access to a safe home. That is why for the third year in a row, our team assisted in building a new home for Habitat for Humanity Goochland County last year. Habitat’s construction team leader, Joe Morgan, elaborated, “We are so fortunate to have businesses like HHHunt that support us in our efforts to construct affordable housing in Goochland. You should be proud of your company and your people who recognize the need and value in supporting the communities in which you operate.”

Additionally, our team supported Safe Harbor, an organization that provides homes and counseling to survivors of sexual and domestic violence and human trafficking. The project included two days of renovations including demolishing walls, ripping up old carpet and scraping floors followed by framing, painting, cleaning and staging. We provided the financing needed for the project, and 15 team members volunteered.

Educating Our Future

HHHunt’s corporate offices and divisions work to enrich the lives of young people in our communities through back-to-school supply drives. Partnering with local elementary and middle schools, our team members collected over 1,500 items last year including backpacks, pens, pencils, notebooks and more. For many children, going back to school without the proper supplies can be stressful. That is why our team is doing its part so students can start the new year off right. Education has always been a focus of HHHunt, and that is why each year we find ways to reach out to the communities where we live and work to give back.

Supporting a Healthy Lifestyle/Living

With a focus on HHunt’s Vision, team members engaged in a community cleanup project and picked up trash along the public roads in Henrico County, Virginia. The positive effects of this effort not only included fostering the camaraderie between team members but also improved our community - a place that we built as a company. It is where our homeowners live, and we are focused on improving their world and how they live.

Our apartment living teams also hosted blood drives in their communities regularly. Abberly Pointe is partnering with The Blood Connection in Beaufort, South Carolina this week on a blood drive. These life-saving drives make a huge difference in the lives of local community members.

At HHHunt, we believe it’s how you live that matters. We will always be there to give back to our local communities. Thank you to our team members, customers and community partners who joined us in these efforts.
